A Unified Path to Decolonization

Yesterday, I wrote New orientation of this blog to explain why I’ve begun using source-based, or closed-loop artificial intelligence systems. One of the many reasons to use these tools is because some of them provide excellent data visualizations, Infographics, such as the one I created below of a Unified Path to Decolonization. This is extremely helpful for me as a way to express concepts visually, which visitors to this blog probably find more helpful than all of the text I often write.

A whole new level of analysis is the ability of some of these applications to read and analyze data from images!

What is found below was derived from these two images. The Great Plains Action Society’s Theory of Change, and the diagram from the Decolonial Repair Network that I’m part of are shown here.

I wondered how successful Gemini 2.5 Flash, the AI model used by Gemini, would be to extract the information from these diagrams. I didn’t expect much, so I was really impressed with how these two images were analyzed individually, and then the results were analyzed together.

First Nation-Farmer Climate Unity March

These are some photos I took during the First Nation-Farmer Climate Unity March in September 2018. The week-long walk of native and non-native people was organized by the Great Plains Action Society (GPAS) and Bold Iowa. Being able to participate on the march was transformative for me. And it achieved its goal to create a small community of native and non-native people who began to know each other so we could work on common concerns together. Here we are seven years later. A lot happened during this time. And we are ready to continue together.

Sikowis is speaking in the first photo as we began the March, which is documented in great detail here: https://firstnationfarmer.com/
