I am excited about the possibilities presencing offers, because of the emphasis on the inner source that drives us. Which is the Quaker way of discerning how we put our faith into action.

Having finished writing an introduction to presencing on this blog, I’ve been wondering if I should continue writing about the further in-depth study I had planned. What is presencing telling me now?
And it is that question that illustrates why I feel led to continue this study. Because that is the same question Quakers ask themselves when we search for what we are being led to do, using different words. It was making that connection that made me believe this was significant. Presencing refers to this as connecting to the Source. Quakers would refer to discerning the leadings of the Spirit, or Inner Light.
Presencing emphasizes waiting to discover what is wanting to emerge. It’s not about what answers you or a committee can come up with. It’s sensing something beyond us that can help us deal with disruption. And importantly, doing this together, co-sensing and co-creating.

Disruption

A new grammar
Presencing is one of several terms in a new social grammar.
The other major reason I believe Friends should embrace presencing is because this new grammar gives us a way to express our spirituality to those who aren’t Quakers, or who don’t belong to other religions.
